• Norman Lloyd, MA, LPC

As a licensed mental health professional, I specialize in helping adolescents navigate the complexities of school, home, and personal life.

Adolescence is a challenging and transformative time, as teens navigate the complexities of a frustrating, difficult, and often emotional period in their lives. Balancing academic responsibilities, extracurricular commitments, and social expectations can create a whirlwind of pressure, even for those who excel in these areas. It’s not uncommon for teens to struggle with anxiety, depression, or feelings of being overwhelmed as they try to meet these competing demands. If your son or daughter is facing these challenges, know that you are not alone. With years of experience working with teens, I understand the unique pressures they face and can provide compassionate, effective support to help them thrive.

I utilize evidence-based approaches, including Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help teens develop healthy coping mechanisms and process the difficulties of adolescence. These therapeutic methods empower young people to manage stress, build resilience, and navigate the rapidly changing landscape of their lives.

    Education

I hold a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

    Experience

My experience includes working extensively with adolescents in multiple high schools across the San Antonio area, providing insight into the unique challenges teens face today. In addition to my professional background, I bring personal experience as a parent who has raised teens and navigated the complexities of a blended family. I have also facilitated parenting programs, such as Helping Children Cope with Divorce at St. Philip’s College, and conducted youth workshops focused on teaching critical life skills to teens. This combination of professional expertise and personal understanding allows me to connect with families on a deeper level and provide practical, empathetic support. My passion lies in working with adolescents and partnering with their parents to improve their quality of life. Together, we can identify strategies to foster growth, resilience, and emotional well-being.

As a retired military professional with 20 years of dedicated service, I bring a wealth of experience working with all branches of the armed forces. My career included multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, where I gained firsthand insight into the challenges faced by service members and their families. Serving as an airborne paratrooper, jump master, and senior human resources specialist, I developed strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Additionally, as the Education and Incentives Director for the Texas Army National Guard, I supported soldiers in achieving their personal, educational, and professional goals. My background equips me to connect deeply with individuals navigating military life, transition, or the aftermath of service, offering a unique perspective and compassionate support to help them thrive.
